Examining the association between ACEs, childhood poverty and neglect, and physical and mental health: Data from two state samples

•Supplemental ACE questionnaires provide a unique opportunity to examine childhood poverty.•Poverty was significantly associated with physical distress, even after accounting for the ACEs.•Findings from this stud may help to make the case for adding poverty to the ACE questionnaire.
