Alginate-poloxamer/silk fibroin hydrogels with covalently and physically cross-linked networks for cartilage tissue engineering.

•Thermosensitive alginate-poloxamer copolymers are synthesized.•Dual network hydrogels are constructed by using alginate-poloxamer and silk fibroin.•Gels are injectable and have their phase transition near physiological pH and temperature.•Gels are porous with high swelling index and some of them have high strengthand good elasticity.•Gels support the in-growth of seeded chondrocytes while maintaining their chondrogenic phenotype.
