Genetic polymorphism of both 29 Y-STRs and 213 Y-SNPs in Han populations from Shandong Province, China

•Both Y-STR and Y-SNP of Han population from Shandong Province were genotyped using 29-plex Y-STR typing system and a high-resolution panel with 213 Y-SNPs, respectively.•A high-resolution phylogenetic tree based on data of four Han populations from Shandong Province is reported for the first time in this present study.•Among the Shandong Han populations, genetic differences between the coastal and inland inhabitants were observed; genetic differences between Han population from Southern China and Northern China were also observed herein.
