An unmanned surface vehicle takes on the role of an autonomous science agent, generating missions based on data. The vehicle explores over long durations and large regions, continually selecting and visiting target survey locations. Select system components are implemented and evaluated for automatic target generation, onboard mapping and path planning that optimizes energy use and data collection reward.
