•Cultured bear bile powder (CBBP) protects against cholestatic liver injury.•CBBP regulated bile acid and glutathione metabolism based on metabolomics.•LC-MS showed that CBBP treatment reduced serum and liver levels of bile acids.•CBBP increased bile acid transporters and metabolic enzymes expression.
