Investigation of Soil Amplification Factors for the Ottawa Area. Part I-Fa

One-dimensional soil modelling using the finite element method was carried out based on a the region-specific shear wave velocity-depth profile, damping and shear modulus reduction curves for Leda clay and seismicity features in Eastern Canada, specifically the Ottawa area, in order to investigate soil amplification factors and compare them with those of the Fraser Delta, an example from Western Canada. The model-based soil amplification factors were calculated for both study areas, and the ratios of amplification factors for the Ottawa area to those of the Fraser Delta were considered as representative for high frequency correction amplification factors.
