Communications requirements for smart grids

In the EU FP7 Project ADDRESS requirements on the communication architecture for a Smart Grid including Active Demand have been developed. In this paper we summarize the methodology applied – a survey and a use case-based analysis, and the results of this specification, as well as the elements of the base architecture. The Traffic Matrix is introduced as a tool for dimensioning the communications.
