Restoring visual function in retinal degeneration by targeting light-activated channels to ON bipolar cells

Animals. Wild-type C57BL/6J mice were purchased from RCC Ltd. (Füllinsdorf, Germany). C3H/HeNCrl (rd1) mice were purchased from Charles River Laboratories (L’Arbresle Cedex, France). All animal experiments and procedures were approved by the Swiss Veterinary Office. The animals were maintained under a 12-hour light-dark cycle and at 1.6 x 1013 photons cm–2 s–1 (between 400–500 nm) illumination during the daytime.
