apolipoproteins, and obesity in children. Japanese school boys (36obese and lelnonobese) and girls (24 obese 111nonobese} aged from 10 to 14years were examined. Serum MDA-LDL Ievels were measured bv the double-antibody sandwich ELISA method. Serum LDL cholesterol (LDL-C), HDL cholesterol (HDL-C), triglycerid (TC), apolipoprotein Al (Apo Al), apolipoprotein B (Apo B), and apolipoprutein E (Apo E) levels were measured using an automatic analyzer. Height and weight were rneasured, and percent of relative weight, body mass index (BMI), were calculated. The serum MDA-LDL levels were 58.9± 6.8U!1 (ebese, 68.3±24.1 IUII ; nonobese, 55.6± 16,2) in boys and 56.3± 19.5 U!1 (obese, 62.9±27.5 IUfl ; nonobese, 54.9± 17.1) in girls.
