摘要
REDD+ is emerging as an international mechanism that is expected to offer performance-based financing to countries that are able to demonstrate their contribution to climate change mitigation in the forest sector. REDD+ activities include those designed to reduce deforestation, reduce degradation, enhance forest carbon stocks, conserve forest carbon stocks and promote sustainable management of timber in forests (SMF). How international funds are used to support and provide incentives for forest stakeholders within countries is not defined by UNFCCC; this is up to each country itself to determine according to its own situation. This InfoBrief presents the basic rationale for the quantification and distribution of REDD+ benefits for the case of Mexico, with special reference to REDD+ in the management of tropical dry forests (TDF).
