Expression and Distribution of the Duck Enteritis Virus UL51 Protein in Experimentally Infected Ducks

Important Findings This study describes for the first time the basic characteristics of duck enteritis virus (DEV) UL51 protein (UL51p) expression and distribution in 18 tissues of experimentally DEV-infected ducks by immunoperoxidase staining. From these results, the researchers concluded that in acute duck virus enteritis (DVE) cases, DEV UL51p was mainly distributed in the bursa of Fabricius, thymus, spleen, liver, esophagus, and intestine, and that it was mostly expressed in the cytoplasm of lymphocytes, reticulum cells, macrophages, and epithelial cells.
