Red blood cell distribution width and mortality of spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage patients.

•Non-surviving patients showed higher RDW than surviving patients.•There is an association between RDW and mortality.•RDW could be used as a biomarker of mortality.•We only included supratentorial SIH (mainly lobar) due to hypertension or amyloid angiopathy.•We included different analyzers and our RDW values were lower than normal range.
