摘要

•MnFe2O4-biochar composite was facilely synthesized based on common biowastes.•The novel composite has large specific surface area and rich functional groups.•The composite shows efficient and high Tl(I) removal capacity.•Multi-mechanisms involved in the effective Tl(I) removal were examined and distinguished.
