摘要
The 8th IEEE International Conference on Mobile Cloud Computing, Services, and Engineering (IEEE Mobile Cloud 2020), was held in Oxford, United Kingdom. The conference was structured as a single-track event, providing a very nice platform to allow researchers in academia and industry alike to exchange their latest research results and developments on mobile edge and cloud computing. This year, the technical program has been extended to include emerging hot areas such as 5G network edge/cloud architectures and machine and deep learning enabled frameworks and applications for edge and cloud infrastructures. Mobile Cloud is organized in conjunction with four other IEEE conferences: the 14th IEEE International Symposium on Service-Oriented System Engineering (SOSE 2020), the 2nd IEEE International Conference on Decentralized Applications and Infrastructures (DAPPS 2020), the 6th IEEE International Conference on Big Data Computing Service and Machine Learning Applications (BigDataService 2020), and the 2nd IEEE International Conference on Artificial Intelligence Testing (AITest 2020). Also, Mobile Cloud is jointly organized with the International Workshop of Security and Trust in Mobile Networks 2020 (SeTM 2020). This makes it a very rich event, which allows attendees to interact with a broader community within the edge, cloud, computing and machine learning/artificial intelligence fields. This will hopefully generate new ideas and foster collaborations. This year, we received 27 paper submissions. Through a thorough review process, we selected 8 full papers for the general conference (30 percent acceptance rate), and 2 short work-in-progress papers (7.5 percent). The sessions cover cutting-edge research, spanning theoretical and algorithmic work on network function virtualization and their elastic chaining in edge networks, deployment of docker containers in distributed fog infrastructures, game theoretic algorithms for energy efficient mobile edge computing across multiple access points and a number of application-oriented papers dealing with fog platforms for drones, postquantum cryptography, dew robotics, access control using blockchain in untrustworthy environments, etc. We believe that this highly selected and timely program will provide plenty of "food for thought", while likewise offering good opportunities for attendees to interact with one another in informative and informal settings, with adequate time allocated for sessions in order to promote in-depth technical interactions, exchange of opinions, and networking opportunities. We believe that the accepted papers will provide an interesting and diverse view of the state-of-the-art of research activities in the area of mobile edge/cloud computing, services and applications, machine learning and engineering. We hope that the IEEE Mobile Cloud 2020 proceedings will be a valuable reference for the future.
