A Rare Form Of Diabetes And A Rare Complication Of Treatment

A 68-year-old man developed polycythaemia vera 6 years ago and was treated successfully with interferon alpha (IFN-α). After 4 years, he developed marked hyperglycaemia: glucose, 25-30 mmol/l, HbA 103 mmol/l (11.6%). He had no family history of diabetes. At presentation, his weight was 105 kg and BMI was 32.8 kg/m .
