COVID-19 PCR test performance on samples stored at ambient temperature

•Transportation and storage of samples can cause logistic and cost problems especially in pandemic periods.•Swab samples kept at room temperature remain accurately positive for RT-PCR test for at least six days.•In a resource-limited conditions, swab samples transferred or stored at ambient temperature can be analyzed and reported.
