Optimization of culture duration of bone marrow cells before transplantation with a β-tricalcium phosphate/recombinant collagen peptide hybrid scaffold.

•We created a combined β-TCP and RCP new hybrid bone scaffolding material.•The cells to be seeded on this new scaffold were best used after 7 days of culture.•A cell population containing immature osteoblasts is important for bone regeneration.•Changes in cell abundance were observed using flow cytometry.•The new scaffold could be useful for bone augmentation.
