•Chrdl1 is expressed at lower levels in amniotic fluid mesenchymal stromal cells derived from the early stages of pregnancy.•Chrdl1 suppresses the proliferation and migration of amniotic fluid derived-mesenchymal stromal cells.•miR-532-3p targets Chrdl1 to promote proliferation and migration of amniotic fluid derived-mesenchymal stromal cells.
