Protein hydrolysates modulate leaf proteome and metabolome in water-stressed grapevines

•Protein Hydrolysates improved grapevines leaf transpiration.•Under water stress conditions, the two tested biostimulants up-regulated photosynthesis-related proteins.•Protein Hydrolysates up-regulated metabolites involved in plant growth regulations and promoted the delay of senescence.•A general delay of fruit ripening was observed in vines sprayed with protein hydrolysates.
