Effect of polyalcohols on the anticorrosive behaviour of alkyd coatings prepared with drying oils

•Sacha inchi oil-based alkyd resins had lighter colours and higher viscosities.•Hardness of the alkyd films was improved by pentaerythritol and Sacha inchi oil.•Pentaerythritol extended drying time and enhanced alkyd film properties.•Sacha inchi oil and pentaerythritol improved adhesion properties of alkyd primers.•Sacha inchi oil and pentaerythritol enhanced the anticorrosive behaviour of coatings.
