Quantifying fisheries enhancement from coastal vegetated ecosystems

•Coastal ecosystems support significant amount of fish production in Australia.•Seagrass support more fish production than mangroves and tidal marshes.•Most abundant fish in coastal ecosystems were small non-commercial species.•Highest biomass and dollar value originated from commercially targeted fish.•On average seagrass were valued at AUD 21,200 ha−1 y−1.
