Multi-scale models of lung fibrosis

•Fibrosis in the lung is associated with numerous diseases, including tuberculosis and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.•Lung fibrosis is a complex process involving numerous cell types, resulting in changes in molecular signaling and the ECM.•Mathematical and computational models have been developed to study aspects of fibrotic lung disease across length scales.•Integration of computational and experimental models provides new insights into disease etiologies and therapeutic targets.•Computational model of fibrosis in other organs can provide insight that could be deployed for the study of lung fibrosis.
