•There is an urgent need for rapid testing for Sars-CoV-2 to guarantee a sufficient outbreak management.•The tested IgG/IgM rapid test shows a low sensitivity in a community screening setting.•Other antibody- or antigen-based tests should be tested for their usefullness in this setting for better outbreak control.
