•6 KLK15 transcripts were discovered using NGS and nested 3′-RACE.•2 out of 6 novel splice variants are likely to encode new protein isoforms.•4 new transcripts are rather non-coding, as they have premature termination codons.•The novel KLK15 variants are expressed in cancer cells of distinct tissue-of-origin.
