•The BNTBTL-10KNT ceramic exhibits a high η of 92.9%.•An ultra-high Wrec of 2.1 J/cm3 is achieved in the BNTBTL-10KNT ceramic.•The KNT-doped BNT (x = 0.10) shows excellent thermal/frequency stability.•The present strategy of adjusting Ts is an effective approach.
