Selecting the optimal calcination conditions for preparing LiV3O8 crystal

LiV3O8 attracts much research interest because it is a high theoretical specific capacity and low cost cathode material of lithium ion battery and is also a good candidate for the anode material of aqueous lithium ion battery. Therefore, it is worth of further investigation on preparing LiV3O8 materials. However, when preparing LiV3O8 materials, impurities such as L0.3V2O5 are usually accompanied. Besides, the calcination temperature and time when preparing LiV3O8 materials in different literatures are diverse. To solve this problem, the LiV3O8 crystal are prepared and the optimum calcination conditions and the optimum stoichiometry of Li:V are systematic studied. The optimum calcination temperature and time is chosen at 400 °C for 5 h. The best stoichiometry of Li:V is 1.15:3. The LiV3O8 material prepared in this study has a good purity and no impurity is found. When act as cathode of LIBs, the LiV3O8 crystal has relatively high discharge capacity as 220–240 mAh g−1.
