Case study of temporal changes in maternal dietary intake and the association with breast milk mineral contents

•Maternal intake of Ca, P, K and Mg did not display a significant temporal changes.•Maternal intake of Cu, Mn and I decreased significantly over time.•Breast milk K, Fe, Zn and Cu significant decreased with the lactation stage.•Na concentration in breast milk exceeded recommendation by 1.5–2.5 times.•All the minerals met the requirements at each lactation stage, except Mg, Cr, Mo.
