•Sensory and consumer data are collected in blocks responding to liking and satiation expectations.•Path modelling has been used to model structural (casual) relationship between data sets.•SO-PLS path modelling has been proposed to handle the multi-dimensionality without preprocessing steps.•Liking was the essential predictor of portion size.•Expected satiation mainly predicted expected satiety.
