A Dual Band Linear to Circular Polarization Converter for Satellite Communication

摘要
In this paper, thin single layer frequency selective surface based dual band linear to circular polarization converter transmissive in nature is reported. The converter is composed of split-rings and a pair of metallic strips connecting horizontal and vertical split-rings for dual band operation. The converter can efficiently convert a linearly polarized wave into orthogonal circularly polarized waves at two frequency bands: 20.10-21.75 GHz (right hand circular polarization) and 29.40-31.20 GHz (left hand circular polarization). The polarizer consists of only one layer Diclad 880 substrate, 60 mil in thickness with indistinguishable metallic cells of size 0.272λ
