Piezoresistive response of graphene rubber composites considering the tunneling effect

•The numerical method for predicting the piezoresistive properties of graphene rubber composites is established.•The tunneling effect has been taken into account by the user subroutine.•The predicted conductivity and percolation value of graphene rubber composites are in good agreement with the experimental results.•The predicted piezoresistive behavior of graphene rubber composites captures the linear response at the initial stage and nonlinear characteristics at the large strain.•The efficient and interconnected conductive network structures can effectively reduce the conductive percolation value and expand the strain range of the linear response region.
