Effect of the inflammatory response on serum indices of iron status in late pregnancy.

•Maternal hsCRP levels in late pregnancy were positively associated with ferritin.•Maternal hsCRP levels in late pregnancy were negatively associated with transferrin.•Measurement of hsCRP is necessary to correct the levels of ferritin and transferrin.•Inflammatory response on ferritin and transferrin could not be adjusted by albumin.
