•SHLI induces anaphylactoid reactions in mouse, rat and dog models.•SHLI could activate the complement system in dogs and rats.•SHLI could produce an increase in vascular permeability.•We demonstrate a means for establishing an evaluation system of anaphylactoid reactions.
