Although no statistical significance was also seen in the ICU and hospital length of stay, data revealed decreased mean duration in the heparin group for both studies. Bleeding risk was lower in the placebo group, but both studies did not have any reported major bleeding event. Conclusion: Nebulized heparin may improve the ventilator-free days among patients on mechanical ventilation. On the other hand, the analysis yielded inconclusive mortality benefit for nebulized heparin. Largerscale studies are recommended.
