Cationic metal-organic framework based mixed-matrix membrane for extraction of phenoxy carboxylic acid (PCA) herbicides from water samples followed by UHPLC-MS/MS determination.

•Cationic MOF mixed matrix membrane (UiO-66-NMe3+ MMM) was facilely synthesized.•The UiO-66-NMe3+ MMM was used for dispersive membrane extraction (DME).•DME-UHPLC-MS/MS was used for detecting phenoxy carboxylic acid (PCA) herbicides.•PCAs can be detected at ultra-trace level in the complex water samples.•The developed method was convenient, rapid, highly sensitive and practical.
