•The study examined adherence with ERP homework as a predictor of treatment response across OCD symptom dimensions.•Adherence predicted posttest improvement in responsibility for harm, unacceptable obsessional thoughts, and symmetry symptoms.•Adherence did not predict outcomes for contamination symptoms.•Adherence predicted improvement in obsessive beliefs and experiential avoidance.
