摘要
Background: Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC) is commonly diagnosed in the cutaneous head and neck; however, the oral cavity is a rare primary site. Case presentation: An 82-year-old female presented with a lesion of the retromolar trigone. Biopsy was consistent with squamous cell carcinoma. The patient underwent composite excision, modified radical neck dissection, and submental myocutaneous free flap reconstruction. Final pathology revealed BCC. The patient remains disease-free and continues to follow up for surveillance 6 months after treatment. Conclusion: Diagnosis of intraoral BCC remains a challenge due to its histologic resemblance to other neoplasms. Treatment is most commonly wide local excision. We report the first case of intraoral BCC that was excised followed by free flap reconstruction.
