Dissecting the genetic mechanisms of waterlogging tolerance in Brassica napus through linkage mapping and a genome-wide association study

•Seedling death rate (SDR) after complete submergence is an efficient method to identify waterlogging tolerance.•In the RIL population, a major QTL explained 10.30 % and 23.32 % of the phenotypic variance in two experiments.•In the panel of 520 accessions, 26 significant associations for SDR were identified by GWAS.
