•Overpressure dynamic process and flame evolution behavior of gasoline/air mixture venting deflagration were analysed.•Four overpressure dynamic section and four flame development section were divided.•Two positive and two negative overpressure peaks were obtained and the internal mechanisms were presented.•Effect of gas concentration and vent size on overpressure transients and flame behaviors was revealed.
