Rapid and visual detection of enterovirus using recombinase polymerase amplification combined with lateral flow strips

•A rapid isothermal molecular method for enterovirus detection was developed and evaluated.•This assay has high specificity and sensitivity for detecting enterovirus, which is suitable for clinical application.•The assay can be completed within about 30 min without the need of sophisticated instruments.•The result of the assay can be analyzed by lateral flow strips, which can detect products in visual method without well-trained personal.•This is a suitable method for using in point-of-care test.
