Generation of Beams with Orbital Angular Momentum Based on 3D Printing Technique

Recently, much attention has been focused on beams carrying orbital angular momentum (OAM) for microwave and millimeter wave applications. Here we demonstrate a 3D printed OAM beams generation antenna. This proposed OAM beams antenna uses the concept of transmit array antenna having an all-dielectric substrate to control the outputting phase for generating beams carrying OAM modes. As demonstrations, a single OAM mode generation antenna working around 40 GHz has been investigated with design in this paper. The typical experimental intensity pattern shows that the proposed method of generating OAM beams really works.
