Geographical accessibility of community social services and incidence of self-harm

•This study identified an uneven spatial accessibility of community social service centers across Kwai Tsing district in Hong Kong.•There was a significant negative correlation between the accessibility index and area self-harm rate in youth and older adults.•There was no relationship between self-harm repetition and community service accessibility in youth and older adults.•There was an independence between the spatial accessibility and self-harm, which highlights the need to explore personal barriers to community service utilization.
