Episodic fluid evolution in the formation of the large scale Luoyang Fe deposit, Fujian, eastern China

•The Luoyang deposit records three episodes of fluid ascent from the parental magma.•Two-stage fluid boiling occurs in the Luoyang deposit.•The Luoyang skarn system was formed in a more shallow depth than the Makeng skarn system.
