A Novel Fast Satellite Selection Algorithm for Multi-GNSS Positioning

With the rapid development of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), the number of satellites that can be received may exceed 30 under sky at the same time. However, real-time solution based on all visible satellites is difficult to achieve especially in multi-GNSS positioning because of the heavy calculation burden. In order to satisfy the requirement of GNSS receiver, a novel fast satellite selection algorithm is proposed in this paper. The proposed fast satellite selection algorithm exploits the approximate balanced pattern algorithm (ABPA) to determine the ratio between high elevation angle satellites and low elevation angle satellites. Then, regular triangle fast satellite selection algorithm is designed to select satellites with low elevation angle. Experimental results show that the 3D RMSE of the proposed algorithm achieves less than 3 meters. Compared to conventional quasi-optimal algorithm (QOA), the proposed algorithm achieves better positioning accuracy.
