Monte Carlo neutron-kinetics analysis in continuous time and energy

•A weighted Monte Carlo kinetics method is proposed in this paper.•There is no branch for both neutron and precursor tracking histories.•A continuous-time tally formula is proposed for the neutron-kinetics simulation.•Neutron-spectrum variations are analyzed during kinetics processes.
