A comparative study of the entomofauna (Coleoptera, Diptera) associated with hanging and ground pig carcasses in a forest habitat of Poland.

•Hanging and ground pig carcasses were colonized by similar entomofauna.•Carcass treatment affected only fly larvae; more species were found on ground carcasses.•Carcass treatment did not affect the residency patterns of insects.•Most insects appeared on both treatments at similar times.
