Triterpenoid alkaloids from Buxus rugulosa and their cytotoxic activities

•Eight triterpenoid alkaloids were isolated from Buxus rugulosa;•The structures of four new triterpenoid alkaloids (1–4) were unambiguously determined.•Compound 2 displayed more potent cytotoxic effect than that of the positive control cisplatin in five tumor cell lines.
