The effect of fenugreek seed supplementation on serum irisin levels, blood pressure, and liver and kidney function in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus: A parallel randomized clinical trial

•Diabetes is a chronic disease, which if not controlled, causes destructive consequences in various systems of the body.•Supplementation with 15 g/day fenugreek seed for 8 weeks was assessed in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients in this study.•Fenugreek seed has beneficial effects on fasting plasma glucose, systolic blood pressure, and liver and kidney function.•Further studies are required to investigate the effect of fenugreek seed on irisin levels.
