Fabrication of single crystalline WO3 nano-belts based photoelectric gas sensor for detection of high concentration ethanol gas at room temperature

•WO3 nano-belts gas sensing material was synthesized by hydrothermal process.•The high concentration ethanol sensing was studied by SPV technology.•WO3 nano-belts exhibit a better room temperature sensing than WO3 nano-particles.•WO3 nano-belts are promising for high concentration ethanol detection.
