摘要
This article presents delay-correlating direct-sequence spread-spectrum (DS/SS) radars at mm-wave frequencies, which transmit a bit sequence waveform instead of frequency chirps or pulses to estimate time of flight between the radar and scatterers within a scene. The simple modulation and demodulation architecture of the proposed DS/SS radar enables wideband and high-resolution radar measurements without the need for broadband A/D and D/A conversion, making the delay-correlating approach attractive for low-power radar applications. The demonstrated radar system operates at 205 GHz and offers a 3.0 cm range resolution while consuming 614 mW of dc power.
