Renal abscesses refractory to treatment: Have you thought of tuberculosis?

Urogenital tuberculosis is the commonest extrapulmonary tuberculosis after lymphadenitis, with the kidneys being the most frequently affected organ. The clinical manifestation of renal tuberculosis is frequently nonspecific, leading to many overlooked cases especially in a developed country. Herein, we report a case of renal tuberculosis in a 79-year-old Caucasian lady who presented with recurrent renal abscess refractory to antibiotics.
